Look at banner, Michael!
A quick weekend commission completed for a local client. Had never done a banner before, so it was a fun challenge, and with vacation impending, tried to get this done in a weekend. Due to this, I didn't take a ton of in progress shots, most of what I have was used to just update the client to make sure the colors were what he wanted.
Started the whole thing in Tamiya Hull Red, a brown/red mix, and lightened it up with progressively lighter red tones, all the way to an orange highlight, along with going with vivid orange and yellow gradients on the front. Picked out the demon in Citadel Mephiston Red, and the banner with Celestra Gray and white highlights. Also did the cracked/scorched earth section in black with a taupe highlight eventually, which was the most confusing and time consuming part of the project.
After that, I didn't want the whole thing to look like there was actual metal on the Knight's armor, so I did a painting style, with a little harsher transitions than normal (to look like fabric might be stitched onto it) for the armor. It was all used with various gray to white mixes, then free-handed the "Nemesis" portion. After that, just picked out the details with various highlights and washes.
And for some reason, this picture looks better than the one with the background, go figure. At this point I wasn't yet done touching up the overspray, and some of the washes, most notably the purity seals, were still wet, and a few highlights weren't in place either, but its the best shot I had before getting it back to the client in a rush. I guess my fleshtones helped the camera. Since it was just a standard, I didn't have a good way to take pro-style shots, but happy with it nonetheless.
