Model Showcase: Venom (Horizon)
1/6 scale Venom model kit in vinyl by Horizon.
As with most Horizon kits, this was a MASSIVE pain to put together. While detail and pose were much better on this kit, the fit was atrocious. His entire upper torso had to fit perfectly onto his waist, which entailed perfect flash removal and heating, form fitting, and insane amounts of putty, considering the join is supposed to be smooth there, without a defining piece like a belt to hide the area.
It was interesting to do his mouth, and make it as nasty as possible. I thought adding some drool would be a bit overkill, since his tongue is already lolling out of his mouth. I wanted to make the teeth standout, so I totally avoided white to keep from blending into the rest of the color scheme.
I basically just painted the whole kit in semi gloss black with some dark blue drybrushed over it to help with the highlights.
