Model Showcase: Thundertusk

Finished Thundertusk!

This one's going to be pic heavy. Enjoy!

The ogres were based in Rakarth flesh, then heavily shaded with a wash mix of my own creation, basically a few drops of brown and one drop of camo green mixed up to wash consistency.  Then they were repainted with Rakarth flesh again.

Edge highlights on the big tusks really bring out the edges, I'm happy with how they turned out.  I tried to do different things with all the different horns, be it different colors, gradients, or variations.

I laid down all the stones and other items on the base, then covered the remaining area with Snow Tex. The ork getting stepped on is a favorite of mine. I'm pretty happy with how he turned out, along with his frantic footsteps running away until squished. I also used some gloss varnish on the trail to make it look wet after the snow, and used some satin varnish on the crossbow to give it that laquered look.

The water bladder was also cool.  Targeted uses of washes created a cool water dribble/stain effect. To get the chicken finished, I painted it a sallow yellow white, then made up a mix of yellow and pink paint thinned between glaze and wash consistency and slathered it over the whole thing.

Also, this piece won first place in the "Large Creature" category in a local model contest!
